The Revision Method teaches a kind of second sight: the ability to look at pages you've read a hundred times and see them for the first. We think of revision as an alchemical process, one that transforms the writer along with the pages. You go in with a draft you can't stop rereading and come out someone who knows what to do with it. You will draw cards that tilt your draft toward the light. You will follow Clearings beneath the noise of your own doubt, into the receptive place where the book can finally speak. And through all of it, you will revise — with your hands, your voice, your whole body, not just your tired eyes.
Drafting asks you to live inside the work. You follow every impulse, you put everything in, you make yourself vulnerable on the page. That closeness is what makes a draft worth revising at all.
Revision asks for something else entirely. It asks you to see the book from the outside, the way a reader will, without the memory of the morning you wrote each sentence. Almost nobody teaches this second sight, so writers do the thing that feels like revising and isn't. They fix sentences inside chapters that shouldn't exist. They polish a broken book to a shine, and they can do it for years.
Over six weeks we'll teach you to look before you fix, and then to work in an order that holds.

Four live coaching calls with Chelsea Bieker & Kimberly King Parsons
The heart of the experience.
Four times across the six weeks, we gather live on Zoom (Thursdays Oct 8, Oct 22, Nov 5, and Nov 12, 9–11am PT, all recorded). Bring your draft, your questions, and whatever you hit that week. No two revision plans look alike, so these calls are where the individual work happens. Every session is recorded if you can't attend live.
Alongside the calls, recorded classes arrive in which we open our own revision notebooks: how we each take a novel apart and put it back together, what we've cut and grieved, what we know now that we didn't at book one. Two working writers showing you the mess and the magic of how it's actually done.

Draw one when you're stuck between passes, when a chapter has gone flat in your hands, when you've stared at a page so long you've stopped seeing it. The Alchemy of Revision

Inside these six weeks you'll revise with your whole body — printing the manuscript and feeling its actual weight in your hands, reading your pages aloud until you hear what the eye keeps missing, taking the book out walking with you.

We built The Fountain because traditional workshops address technique and miss the deeper work of dissolving the blocks that keep writers from the page. Revision is where those blocks surface most.
